2024 Testing has begun. More info Soon...

Hello there!

After being absent in the flightsim wilderness for a little over a year, it feels great getting back into the game with my good friends and colleagues here at //42. With the release of MSFS 2024 just around the corner, you’d think the timing couldn’t be better… or so I thought.

To be quite honest, this one feels a bit underdone when compared to the 2020 release. Since our last blog around MSFS2024 compatibility we have had the opportunity -along with other Marketplace creators- to test our content on various builds. Unfortunately, this has not been an entirely smooth process. We have seen some issues being resolved, as well as new bugs being introduced which has been frustrating.

And previous statements of “virtually all add-ons will work” has not helped either. Whilst that may offer some assurances to those that have 1st party add-ons developed by and for Microsoft, that promise falls way short for many of the 3rd party creators, including us. Our products will not likely work day 1, in fact, we encourage you to install them and experience just how broken they are so our workload is validated on your end.

I have the pleasure of working closely with many other 3rd party developers, many of whom are also my colleagues and friends. We’re all facing similar challenges, and there is a collaborative spirit amongst us as we navigate this tricky phase.

So here we are today. We’ve updated our dashboard showing that testing has begun, but we are still going to wait until a solid production-level build has been released and out in the wild. That’s when we’ll feel confident rolling forward with more news.

So, what's the timeline? Right now, we’re looking at several months of work to make sure everything runs smoothly. The good news? We do expect most titles to make the cut, though a few might have some minor feature adjustments along the way.

We’re not the type to rush and risk compromising quality. We’re putting in the time to truly understand what MSFS 2024 demands before putting out a public roadmap.

So, thanks for hanging in there and supporting us. We truly appreciate it and believe this all will be worthwhile.
