Sometimes you need to remind yourself why you do this.
As you all (hopefully) know, we have been grinding away on ChasePlane and Flow for MSFS 2024, rethinking systems, and pushing hard on features that we are excited to bring and improve on. Whilst rewarding, it's intense work.
Somewhere along the way, we needed a breather and something to help us reenergise. Day after day of looking at the same code, loading in and out of the sim to test iterative builds was starting to wear us down. Don’t get me wrong, ChasePlane and Flow are exciting projects and will be delivered, but as they say, “a change is as good as a holiday.”
Along came GoFish.
What started as a small experiment quickly turned into a surprisingly refreshing experience. And honestly? It was exactly the kind of project we needed. We here at //42 are encouraged to build and work on things that make us happy. As I said at the start, we need to remember why we are doing this, and to make sure that we continue to enjoy this crazy passion of ours, we need to strike that balance between work and play.
GoFish is a relaxing add-on to MSFS 2024 built specifically for Avatar mode that lets you slow down between flights and cast a line into lakes, rivers, or coastal waters across North America, Europe, Oceania, and beyond. Landed near a remote Alaskan lake? Grab your rod. Parked your floatplane at a quiet dock? Grab your rod. You get the idea…and wait till you try it in VR!
Don’t worry, ChasePlane and Flow remain front and center in our path to MSFS 2024. But sometimes, great ideas happen when you step away for a moment, and we think you’ll enjoy this one.
GoFish will release first to our Club 42 members, followed later with a general public release, so you must be logged in to see an add to cart button.
Most importantly, GoFish will require you to be on the SU4 Beta. Our general public release for GoFish will happen once SU4 has gone public, and we are comfortable with overall stability.
