ChasePlane

About ChasePlane, some changes…

About ChasePlane, some changes…

A few years ago we introduced ChasePlane community on stage at FlightSimShow. There were things I loved and things I hated about it. It’s a very complex feature, probably one of THE most complex in the app, and the implementation just never felt…perfect. It worked tho, it worked for many, but almost too well for a few that the algorithm simply weighted higher and higher with each use. I’m quite sure what I built wasn’t quite what I wanted it to be. As time went by I came up with better ideas, better ways of presenting data.

They say it’s easier to just rip the band-aid off, so here we go! At this time of transition into Orbx store I found myself deep in the code making modifications. Being there I realized I definitely wanted to do better, and I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Hear me out…

We’re disabling ChasePlane Community and the Cloud Storage solution. Your presets and Preferences from the cloud will be imported when you transition registration to Orbx, you’ll lose absolutely nothing. That is, unless you for some reason don’t ever move your copy to Orbx and never get updates and fall into a black hole. The servers will eventually be spun down, the interface replaced with something very special.

Make sure to read our ChasePlane v1.2 update article. In 1.2, we introduced a very simple way to share presets with your friends: https://medium.com/@parallel42/welcome-chaseplane-v-1-2-3e8cc0393a5c

Community will return, and better than ever. It won’t get a soon™ but more like a one day ™.

I’m very thankful for the feedback we have received about the community since its inception. We are taking it to heart and will make it a thousand times better on our second try, I promise!

Happy flying,
