Hello Captain,
For a long time, we’ve wanted to do weather presets. We just never wanted to do them the way everyone else did.
Like many of you, we’ve never loved endless lists of presets that felt more like work than a utility. Click, scroll, click again, repeat. Only to feel that none of it feels inspiring. We also knew we didn’t want to chase live accuracy at all costs. Not because live accuracy doesn’t matter, but because beauty matters too. Weather should feel right, not be an endless chase to match a single cloud IRL to a cloud in-sim.
So we made a rule early on. If we ever did weather, it would be done our way, and it would be done with the right partner. Someone who loves data, loves weather, and would understand our approach.
That partner was always Active Sky.
Over the past 2 years, that opportunity finally blossomed. Typical Weather is built in collaboration with Damian Clark of Active Sky, and together we focused on something simple but powerful, weather as a visual experience. Familiar, data-driven, and beautiful. Most importantly, because it's driven by historical data, it's what we call "Typical".
The real proof came without us trying. We started using it daily on our own flights, not for testing, not for screenshots, just because we preferred flying with it. That’s when we knew we were onto something special.
Typical Weather isn’t about endless options or chasing live weather data. Think of it like a digital farmer’s almanac that quietly works in the background, keeping your skies feeling typical for that place and time, without any setup or extra work.
