As more users use ChasePlane and new aircraft are released, the amount of data we need to store grows dramatically alongside bandwidth and other related costs. Our cloud demands multiply, driving costs up exponentially. Still, we're committing to cover these expenses so every ChasePlane user can enjoy free cloud backups and community features.
Best of all, we can include these previously optional services, while still meeting our initial price target. While this decision involves additional risk, we are confident in our updated cost analysis.
Why do we need our own infrastructure?
In the past, we hosted settings for Flow on the Xbox Cloud, but that wasn't reliable; people lost data and saw settings reset way too often.
ChasePlane generates even more data, so we built our own cloud system to ensure your settings, groups, and views are always safe. And now, it's just part of the package.
Your data? Always yours. We'll still ask if you want to back up to our Cloud. These backups are just a convenience; everything still lives on your local machine.
